Libyan Desert Glass is believed to have been formed as a result of meteoric impact in the area of eastern Libya and western Egypt. Its origins have been hotly debated as evidence of an impact has not been discovered; however, it shows many of the traditional indications of meteoric activity such as lechatelierite which is also found in Moldavite. Libyan Desert Glass is thought to be approximately 29 Million years old and is prized by modern day collectors as well as ancient civilizations. One of the most well-known examples of its sacred use was a scarab carved into the funerary necklace worn by King Tut.
