Blue Lotus Flower
Blue Lotus Flower
Nymphaea Caerulea – the water lily commonly known as the Blue Lotus has been venerated for centuries. Evidence of its use and reverence have been discovered in Ancient Civilizations, including Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Indian and Mayan to name just a few. Many times, the Lotus was depicted in art as representations of Beauty, Purity, and Enlightenment; shown as offerings to the Dead, or seen as part of other Ritual or Ceremonial Rites. The chakras are illustrated by the Lotus flower, each portrayed with a different number of petals until reaching the Crown – loosely translated as “thousand petaled”. She is a liminal plant whose petals open at dawn and close at dusk. The buds rise from muddy water, and bloom pristinely on the surface of it.
Lotus is said to be helpful for Lucid Dreaming, Meditation, and connecting with the Divine. It can be incorporated into works involving Death and Rebirth, Transformation, Overcoming Obstacles, Purification, Astral Travel, Sex Magic and Ancestral Devotion.
Blue Lotus contains two aporphine alkaloids: apomorphine and nuciferine that have been shown to produce a state of euphoria and a sense of serenity, and in some cases can also be emetic. It is not currently regulated or approved for human consumption by the FDA, but it is legal in almost all states.
